From summer 2014 bikers choosing to cycle the Dolomite paths forming the Sellaronda HERO TOUR, and with the occasional help of the uphill lift systems, will be able to stop and eat one or more dishes of the HERO GOURMET menu especially prepared by Adelheid Larch, a nutritionist from Merano. The menus will be served up by the chefs of seven mountain huts and restaurants situated along the fifty kilometres of the route.
With this in mind the Sellaronda HERO TOUR has decided that from this year it will propose a menu which the bikers attempting the round route of the Sella Group will be able to enjoy by stopping off at one of the mountain hut restaurants taking part in the initiative. In substance we are talking about a combination of two or three dishes, the composition of which have been studied by Adelheid Larch, a well-known nutritionist from Merano, she too being a sportswoman. The menus will be “served up” by chefs of seven mountain huts: the TabLà, the Pralongià, and the Ütia Crëp de Munt all in Alta Badia, Miky’s Grill and the Fodom of Arabba, the Salei at Passo Sella, and finally the Emilio Comici at Selva Val Gardena. All the dishes elaborated by Adelheid Larch make use of local produce and for this the initiative can be termed as ‘herozero’ given the emphasis on produce from the actual restaurant location. The idea behind the HERO Gourmet project is to provide the bikers using the Dolomite paths a healthy and nourishing lunch be they on the mountain top or down in the valley – the energy value of which is intended to be between 500 and 900 calories and which celebrates the traditional Dolomite cuisine.
Get ready to take your place at the table and enjoy a choice of dishes which range from a menu of barley and vegetable risotto followed by an apple mouse (of which 11% is protein, 56% carbohydrates, and 33% fats for a total of 604 calories), or a serving of semolina dumplings with Graukäse (grey cheese) and butter - and this followed by a buckwheat cake creation (of which 15% is protein, 48% carbohydrates, and 37% fats for a total of 728 calories) These mentioned are just two examples of the 10 choices provided for in the light menu option, whilst for those of you who really have a big HERO GOURMET appetite there are 4 menus consisting of 3 dishes each: a classic choice for example would be barley soup followed by a slice of meat and mashed potato and rounded off by a dessert of apple compost (of which 19% is protein, 44% carbohydrates, and 37% fats for a total of 797 calories).
And if your mouth starts to water at the thought of delicious traditional Ladin or Italian specialties during your Sellaronda Tour, note the various mountain huts where you can restore your body’s battery with enough energy to complete your mission.
